Hello friends! The last couple of days have been incredibly intensive – we have seen the hottest day of the year so far! So after teaching my exercise class on Saturday, I decided it was time to get away! I headed straight for the coast to escape the sweltering temperatures, catch some breeze and get some fresh air! I am so glad I did.
It was so uplifting to see the beautiful vast open countryside, green fields for miles and miles, natural open space for as far as my eyes could see, met on the horizon only by the bright blue sky. Driving through all the wonderful winding country roads, with its fairytale twists and turns, timeless English cottages and pebbled driveways – I felt more and more wide-eyed and uplifted with each second of the journey.
Around an hour later we arrived at the coast!
By the time we reached the coast, I was ready for the sea! The beautiful open sea, for as far as I could see, I felt completely at peace. There was no words, just a feeling of complete peace and tranquillity.
Its amazing how just being by the sea and at one with nature can create so much calm and inner peace. It felt like time had completely slowed down, and I was able to appreciate the planet earth its truest most natural form.
After half an hour taking in the wonderful views from the top of the hill, we slowly transcended down hill, headed towards the pier. Eventually we reached the dry sand, then the wet pebbles, gravitating closer and closer towards the shoreline. Once my feet touched the waves, I felt the happiest and most peaceful that I had felt in ages, so I stood still to take it all in.
Each wave would gently rush in, crashing softly against the shoreline, then hurriedly fold back, retreating back to the sea. It was so peaceful, so uplifting watching the sea gently caress the open shoreline. Even the beautiful seagulls were dancing in the sky nearby.
I find the sea very therapeutic, the sea, the ocean, all its wonderful wildlife, it is completely breath taking. It really helps to put everything into perspective for me. I’m not one for mobile phones or smartphones, so I was completely phone free and happy. All of the photo’s in this blog post were taken by one of my closest friends who was with me at the time.
I just wanted to appreciate the moment for what it was, rather than trying to film it, or see it from behind a camera lens. For those that truly know me – this blog and website is actually the closest I have come to the technological world, and I’m really proud of that 🙂
The sunset over the sea was beautiful, the seagulls still soaring high above the open sky. I felt completely at peace, my visit to the sea was very good for my soul, I came back with renewed hope and optimism. A reminder of all the wonderful things that are most important in life.
Planet earth is around 4.5 billion years old and I cannot even begin to imagine the vast changes our planet has gone through during its lifetime. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life and all its stresses, it can be easy to miss the beauty and peace in our natural world.
The UK has so many wonderful places to visit and see. When back in London, I always look up at the stars twinkling brightly on a clear night, and the moon, it is a humbling reminder that we are just a tiny speck in our solar system, and part of a much wider Universe. Lets remember to take time out to appreciate, enjoy, protect and preserve our planet and wildlife as best we can. I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead. x x
